AUGSBURG STORY BIBLE, by Augsburg Fortress, 1992, ISBN: 0806626070
Review: It contains 142 stories from the Old and New Testament, using the words from the NRSV but shortened to fit the available space. The pictures are exquisite and thought-provoking, with a very Middle Eastern flavor. In addition to full-page illustrations, there are small engaging drawings on most pages. The best part of the illustrations is the occasional inclusion of modern day folk. For example, Mother Teresa is clearly the innkeeper, tucking the robbery victim in bed after the aid of the Good Samaritan. There are holocaust victims, Martin Luther King Jr. and Gandhi, in the illustrations among the beatitudes. It's well done. Reviews suggest Grade 4 Up.

THE LOVING ARMS OF GOD, by Anne Elizabeth Stickney, Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company, 2001, ISBN: 0802851711.
Review: suggest Grades 3 - 6 ... a good book with basic Bible stories written in paraphrase fashion. There are questions before and after each story - good to use for those teachers who need a little help in delivering the story. While the artwork is beautiful, the pictures are not very big. Would be good as a devotional book as well. Wendy
