"Bible Surf Shack"
Computer & Bible Skills and Games Workshop
Peace Presbyterian, Bradenton FL
We took down a wall between two smaller rooms to create our new Computer workshop, which also doubles as our "Bible Skills and Games" workshop.
Half of the room is a budding "beach shack" and the other half (seen below) is the beach. We have plans to add more "beach stuff" as we collect it from members, and will soon be adding sound panels shaped as clouds in some strategic wall locations.
The beach theme was inspired by our Florida location, and also by the fact that beach "stuff" is inexpensive, easy to find, and fun. The kids helped us paint and apply the decor.
Our $1 noodles are suspended on fishing line.
Not shown: the divider between our computers, and the third computer at the "beachside" end of the room.
The palm tree is contact paper ordered online. It didn't stick very well to our paint, so we added some glue.
For some reason we have a window in one end of the room that looks into the hallway. Parents and kids love to look in.
One of my workshop design tricks is to try and "theme" everything in the room. Thus, our clock is being flown-in by a seagull, and the workshop's sign in the hallway is made out of a $10 boogie board.
