Below are several posts featuring additional Esther resources. Feel free to add your own suggestions.


Esther Storybooks and Printable Stories

The Writing Team recommends that teachers use an abbreviated re-telling of the Esther story, rather than try to plow through the whole book with children. 

For Younger Children - Bible Storybooks that include Esther's story:

  • 365 Read-Aloud Bedtime Bible Stories
  • Read Me a Bible Story - 365
  • The Children’s Illustrated Bible
  • Spark Storybook Bible

Most of these might read a "little young" for your older students, 

For Older Students...

Consider copying/downloading a free "re-telling" of the story from one of several different Jewish Purim websites. These could be read aloud by a story-teller, or by different students.

 


Single Storybooks

estherstorybookThe following is a list of "single story" books that come recommended to us. Some are quite inexpensive and can be purchased in quantity. 

  • The Story of Esther: A Purim Tale, by Eric Kimmel
    Holiday House. Ages 4-8. Recommended by "Storypath" at Union Seminary.

  • Queen Esther Visits the King, by Karen Clopton-Dunson
    Description: Arch Books tell popular Bible stories through fun-to-read rhymes and bright illustrations. This well-loved series captures the attention of children, telling scripturally sound stories that are enjoyable and easy to remember. Each Arch Book presents a complete Bible story in a fun-to-read way. Approximate cost: $2.49.  For younger children.

  • "Brave Queen Esther" from Zondervan.
    From the Adventure Bible series, "I Can Read" Level 2 books for early readers.
