This neat idea came from Karen Kriner, a long time Rotation enthusiast. <>< Neil

Using rolls and rolls of clear packing tape, students ENCASED each other in packing tape, then cut themselves out of it, retaped and decorated "What's on the INSIDE OF ME."

First they rolled tape around a student with the sticky side OUT. Then they rolled tape with the sticky side IN over that first layer. Cut a back seam and step out, reseal seam.

An option occurred to me: WRAP the person in SARAN WRAP, then TAPE OVER the wrap.

Use permanent marker to draw on the inside.
What I'm thinking...
What I day dream about...
What I feel strongly about on the inside...
My heart...
My inner thoughts about God...
Etc etc.

Might put a hat and shoes on your "invisible people." Would make quite a display.

Thanks Neil-see I figured it out. The older children can possibly stand to have their head wrapped, but it is easier to wrap a styro wig head. Also, wrap lots of layers so the thing is sturdy. My girls wrapped their feet (Cinderella sneakers) and decorated the feet/shoes. Good idea for Walking in His footsteps. Boys like it too. Yes, Saran Wrap works. It is hard to cut the kids out of it-so make sure you don't wrap too tight, especially around the shoulders and thighs. Is really cool. Heard someone wrapped a VW.... Karen

I had known about this idea (From "Stuck on Sculpture" by Robert Hunger in the May 2005 issue  how to create an image out of cellophane wrap article #A050520 of Arts and Activities Magazine but I hadn't figured out what story to apply it to...

p.s. (a lot later) The Arts and Activities article is no longer available. Have a look at this lesson that was done with high schoolers called "Plastic Tape Figure Cast Sculptures" by Kris Holsen, Studio Acacademy High School, Rochester, MN: https://www.incredibleart.org/...Kris-TapeFigures.htm
