Bongo’s “About the Bible” Lesson Set

A 4 to 6 Week Lesson Set “About the Bible” I wrote for my church's summer Sunday School.

Here's a PDF of the curriculum. See the updated note at the end of this post for a correct URL to one of the resources in the PDF.summerbongo

This set of lessons can easily be adapted as a jungle-themed Vacation Bible School (call it Vacation Bongo School) or used as a regular Rotation lesson set, or for kids fellowship time, or as a multi-week inter-generational event, or as a Summer Sunday School as I originally did.

Lesson Set Overview:

  • Bongo Loves the Bible computer workshop (featuring Bongo Loves the Bible ),
  • Bongo's Bible Bakery workshop,
  • Bongo Goes Bonkers for the Bible workshop featuring games!
  • Plus opening worship, songs, skits, and video suggestions

Each workshop will teach BIBLE BASICS, help kids know why the Bible is important, and encourage them to read their Bibles.   Only one of the workshops in my lesson set uses the Bongo Loves the Bible software. And you don't have to do the computer workshop to use the rest of the material.

These lessons are free, and you're welcome to use them "as is," modify them, or whatever.

The PDF of the Bongo "About the Bible" lesson set that I put together has a Bible Timeline Card Game referenced in it. Here's the corrected URL where you can print the free set of cards: https://livingwaterbiblegames....bletimelinegame.html

Hi! I'm unclear where the printed resources are for these Bible games. I think in our situation, I'd rather do live games and workshops instead of computer materials. How can I link up to them? Thanks you. Laura Loving

Hi Laura,

Look in the above lesson post for this pdf link (see my snapshot below for where to find it). When you find it click on it to open the lesson. Group bible games are found on pages 9-10 of the pdf.

Hi, @Laura Loving!

Luanne gave directions for finding the instructions for the Bongo Loves the Bible lesson set games.

We also have additional games to teach children about the Bible in general. You can find those here.

If you are looking for games to teach specific Bible stories, the lessons and games at our site are organized by Bible story. You can scroll down through the Lesson and Resource Forum menu to find the Book of the Bible/Bible story that you are looking for and click on it and then look for the games workshops and ideas.

If you need more direction or help, let us know!

The games in Neil's PDF on pages 9-10 indicated above are not computer games, but live action games. I think the error on Amy's part was she saw Bongo and therefore thought is was just related to the software, an easy mistake, but in Neil's lesson set he includes other workshops, that are not computer related. Amy did point out the Lesson forum on Books of the Bible where you will find other games as well.
