2014 Forum Feature & Content Improvements

Our volunteers and part-time editors never sleep!  In 2014, we completed a two year project to overhaul our lesson forum structure and prune & improve lesson content. This work continues in 2015 and includes some previously posted Writing Team lesson sets.

In 2014 we were also able to hire a "Lesson Format Editor" to improve the layout & readability of the Advent Forum, and start working in the Holy Week lesson forums.

  • Adding summaries, headlines and section dividers
  • Putting key concepts, media, and scripture references at the top of lessons.
  • Applying "Open Dig Reflect" structure where helpful.
  • Checking links and confirming availability of suggested resources.
  • Removing old formatting code.

This necessary and technical formatting work was paid for by Supporting Member contributions and overseen by board volunteer Carol Hulbert and Neil MacQueen. Carol has also been at work improving the layout and content of various Writing Team lesson sets.

Also in 2014, a "Holes" Survey identified a number of lesson forums that need additional content. The Board has begun filling those needs, including the implementation of the Lesson Flash Mob concept to fill holes.

Looking ahead:  the Board is looking for creative Rotation-writers-for-hire interested in adding new lessons in a number of forums. In addition to all teaching mediums, we are especially looking for writers experienced with science/object lessons and cooking projects.
