All about our Big Update...

Rotation.org Newsletter

December  2015, Part 1

On November 30th we poured all of Rotation.org's great Sunday School lesson content into a brand new, state-of-the-art, web platform!  With that code overhaul came many new features and organizational improvements.

The switchover went surprisingly well. If you haven't been to rotation.org this month, take a look!

This change was paid for by our Supporting Members, ...as is every expense related to our website. So on behalf of the Rotation.org community, we want to say to them...

Thanks to our Supporting Members our site is now 100% "responsive" on any computing device you want to use:  PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone.  No shrunken screens, no unreadable fonts, no blown out pages.

In Part 2 of this Email Newsletter, you read about some of the new features.  For now, here are some answers to frequently asked upgrade questions.

Why did we upgrade?

We wanted to make our site 100% functional whether you visit on a PC or tablet, laptop, or smartphone. Over half of all website viewing now takes place on tablets and smartphones, but as you probably know from personal experience, many websites don't adjust well to small screens. Many are unreadable and dysfunctional. The all new "responsive code" powering our site is state-of-the-art.

What did it cost?

The upgrade was not immediately expensive. Hoop.la, our web service provider, is paid by the member. That means if you have been a Supporting Member or will be in the near future, you helped pay for our site and the changes.

Our only out-of-pocket costs were a lot of grey hair, dozens and dozens of volunteer hours, and about 60 hours of techie time from Neil our webmaster to customize the new interface you see today. Our immediate upgrade goal was simple:  "make it look familiar to our members."

What do you need to do?

Probably nothing other than:

  • explore the site
  • get used to the way the new Post Editor works
  • maybe upload higher resolution "avatar" (online pic of you. Click your Name on the Blue Menu Bar to update your profile)
  • and become a supporting member if you aren't already!

The work continues...

We continue to tweak the interface, play with new features, and fix dweebs. To suggest or report something, please post in our Feedback Forum.

Maintaining and improving a website like ours is more costly than it was in the old days, so we continue to need everyone's support, and then some.

If Rotation.org has been a blessing to your church, become a supporting member.

If we've saved your church a bunch of curriculum money, why not make a year-end donation.

Merry Christmas, and thank you for your ministry to God's kids,

from your 2015 Rotation.org Volunteer Board of Directors
