We're excited to share the following "GEO LOGOS ~ BIBLE GEOGRAPHY" resources and videos from Rotation.org member Samantha Corcoran, a teacher at the Northside Church of Christ in Wichita KS. Samantha produced these videos for her church's "Geo Logos Workshop" which is part of her church's Workshop Rotation Model "Safari" Sunday School.

Using one of the workshops to focus on a story's Bible Background, geography, and culture has long been a part of the Bible Skills & Games Workshop mandate in the Rotation Model. Some churches focus more on "skills" (such as Bible background and geography), while others focus more on the games (to reinforce memory, for example). Most blend the two and many add computers and other media to enhance what takes place in this workshop. Some stories and passages of scripture lend themselves to certain types of Bible skills and activities.

Here's a video "tour" of the Geo Logos workshop's design led by teacher Samantha Corcoran.

Here's a video of Samanta explaining the Rotation Model's understanding of Multiple Intelligence learning theory and how the Geo Logos workshop fits into that.

Here are a few screenshots taken from the workshop tour video:

Thank you Samantha and Northside for your inspiring setup!

Online "Geo Logos" Workshop Lessons

by Samantha Corcoran

Samantha has posted on YouTube over 20 video presentations, most during the 2020 pandemic. Many of them were Zoom classes she held online and recorded as they happened.

Here's a link to her 15 Bible Geography Lessons for Kids (only) sub-channel

As she states in her introductory video, the online presentations are for her kids, others she made for a women's Bible study, and she's "curated" some lists of other videos available on YouTube.

In the following Abraham's Journey Zoom Class recording, you can hear the kids in her Zoom class watching and responding to her and the video, and you can see how she pops up during the media playback.

For those of you contemplating making your own Bible Geography videos or leading a *live* class with media, take a close look at the Abraham video above.

The following PENTECOST presentation is "pre-recorded" and shows the use of her video software's "green screen"  capability so that she can put herself in the images.  New Mac computers, for example, come with free iMovie software which has a green screen option.

Why would "green screen" be an important video-making option? See this introduction of Mary in Nazareth where the teacher is "on her way" to the city!
