Lessons and ideas for teaching The Golden rule

The Golden Rule is part of the Sermon on the Mount found in Matthew 7:12-14.

This topic thread is for posting general lessons, ideas, activities, and resources for teaching about The Golden Rule.  If you have a complete set, start a new topic.

The Golden Rule isn't often taught by Rotation Sunday Schools. This is because we tend to "have to" focus on the "major" stories of the Bible for children. Teaching each for 4 to 5 weeks in a row over a 4 or 5 year period often means we don't have time to cover "non-Major" stories. What is considered "major" is left to the individual church.

But, please feel free to post your ideas below.

The Golden Rule

12 “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

13 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

Original question was: Looking for activities to teach preschool children the Golden Rule.

You might find some good ideas in the section on "The Greatest Commandment" https://www.rotation.org/forum/the-great-commandment

Cooking

For instance, this lesson set on The Greatest Commandment, from FUMC, contains a cooking lesson where you make heart-shaped cookies and then share half. Perhaps that could be adapted to a lesson on the Golden Rule.

Lego

"18 Bible lessons using Lego" an Internet resource, not free, $9 instant download found at http://teachsundayschool.com/legolessons.html
This book has a lots of ideas in it, including: "The Narrow Gate LEGO Game," they say will burn energy, generate thought, and have everyone smiling and laughing. Lessons were optimized to be used with children ages 5-12.
