This topic began as a question from member Heidi asking where she could find some replica currency from biblical times to teach children with.

In a lesson about Daily Life in Jesus' time we wanted to do something about money -- since Jesus often mentioned it. We are wondering whether anyone knows where we can get samples of Hebrew, Israeli, and Roman currency from the time of Jesus (ie. dinars, shekels, etc.) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Heidi! Check the magazine "Biblical Archeology." Occasionally there are ads to buy coins or replicas. If that doesn't work, check local museums for displays and do a field trip.

Some Biblical atlas' have pictures of coins.

Over the years, replica coins from Bible Times have been sold by various supply houses and mints (which tend to go out of business).

Do a Google search for "replica coins of the Bible" and you'll see many pop up.

For many years, a basic inexpensive set was found in various religious supply catalogs that looked like this:
