Card Games

Here are a few simple ideas for card games you can make yourself. There are many, many more! I use 5x3-inch index cards, either white or color.

1. Variations of the old Memory (Concentration) game.
Memory Verse Based: Type half of a verse on one card and the other half on another card. Mix them up and have the kids take turns turning 2 cards over. If they make a match, they get another turn. The one with the most matches wins! For older kids, divide the memory verse for the day/month into 4 parts on 4 different cards. They turn over 4 cards instead of 2.

2. Lesson Review: Make a list of questions based on the Bible story. Type a question on one card and the answer on another card.
(a) Give Q cards to half of the kids and A cards to the other half.
(b) Give Q cards to half of the kids and hide the A cards around the room. Kids look for the A cards that match their Q cards, either individually or in teams.

3. Bingo Games: You can create your own based on many different themes. There is even a Web site that will create them for you. You can make them simple for the younger kids. Or you can make them harder for the older kids, i.e. if you say "first man" they would look for "Adam" on their card. (You would make it more difficult than that, of course, depending upon the ages of the kids.)
