Reply to "The "Cosmic Christ," Seven Lampstands ~ Lesson Ideas (Rev 1:9-20)"

Some thoughts about the Seven Churches being the Seven Lamps

The image of LAMPSTAND holds special significance in that Jesus refers to it as well in Matthew 5:15

Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

PROJECT:  Making a Church Lampstand

Students with help construct a wood lampstand (much in the same way wooden crosses are made for Easter time). It has seven branche -each with a place to hold a candle.

The question: How is our church like a lampstand?
The answers are provided by members during and after worship by placing notes on the lampstand of "how the church has been a light to them, and to others."

Once enough notes have been added to the lampstand, it is brought into worship and the seven candles on it are lit.

Some "Other Lamp Project" Notes:

Art Project: Make a lampstand that looks like you and holds a battery-operated "tea lights." Sculpting Material... craft wire and or aluminum foil.

Drama Project: How do you lift others up? How do you put others down?

Who's light are you supposed to be sharing, your own?  or the light of Christ within you?

How do you turn up the brightness?
