Here's a collection of ideas for helping students draw themselves into the story. These were suggested for a Genesis 1 "Created in the Image of God" lesson as a way of quickly created a good looking image of yourself (rather than the stick figure some students are only be able to create).
Reverse Painting Acetate Self Portrait "Stained Glass"
This technique could be used to create a number of Bible story art projects or reflections.
Print out a photo of the student and students traced the main contours of their face and body onto acetate (transparency) with Sharpie. Then paint the acetate using acrylic paint.

Silhouette Art
Portraits could also be as simple as doing a silhouette by tracing silhouette created by a light and tracing onto paper. Then paint with colours or add scenery.
