Several years ago as part of our focus on this story, we had the children decorate heart shaped sugar cookies each week and  take them to a different place where we had identified people helping others as a way to say thank you, and to learn more about what it means to help others selflessly.  We live in a small town, so the children could easily walk to the local first responders; EMS/Ambulance crew; hospital ER; nursing home; police station.

TLC....  

 

Normally I would think "O please, not another cookie baking Cooking Workshop!"

 

But this a very nice idea for this story.
