A Father's Day Children's Sermon

"Abba" means "father" in Aramaic (Jesus' tongue), or actually something closer to the informal "Daddy" than how we think of "father" in English.

What is a Daddy?  It's a great question to ask kids, and it can be gender inclusive too once you start your list.

Children's Sermon
A message with the children we sometimes use -- and I should say we are a congregation with many absentee fathers -- is to ask the children to list the things that a father does. They come up with things like fix thing, read to you, love you, etc.

Then we turn to the congregation and start going down the list asking everyone who has ever done this or that on our list to please stand (which of course includes everyone) and then wish the entire congregation a happy father's day.

This has been very appreciated by some of our single moms who don't know what to do with this holiday.

Peace,
Lisa
