An Introduction to the Prophets Elijah and Jonah for parents and teachers. This document was prepared for those planning on teaching with E&J software during 2020's time of challenges and change, but it is a great intro for all times.

Lessons at Rotation.org that use this software:
Elijah’s 3 stories… -each an individual lesson:
- Elijah and the Widow of Zarephath (God cares for the outsider and poor)
- Elijah, Ahab & Jezebel, the Prophets of Baal on Mt. Carmel, and the Still Small Voice (God is not in the fire)
- Elijah passes his prophet's mantle to Elisha and leaves on a chariot of fire (picking up the prophet's mantle)
Jonah - An interactive lesson from Joppa to Whale to Nineveh to Worm, narrated word for word from scripture with all the humor and irony restored! Jonah has a ton of mini-activities and pop-ups throughout the story and two fun reflection games.
Neil from Sunday Software writes:
I love all my software children, but Elijah and Jonah is my favorite for a number of reasons. First, Elijah and Elisha stories are some of my favorites in the Bible and as prophets go, Elijah was considered the greatest. So great in fact, that some thought Jesus was Elijah returned, and the disciples saw Elijah with Jesus at the Transfiguration. The relationship between Elijah and Elisha is also a metaphor for teachers and their students. Jonah was a prophet too! ...albeit, a reluctant one -- a fact and teaching opportunity that often gets lost in all the whale business. Last but not least, our Elijah and Jonah program is my favorite because of the interactive comic book format and illustrations, the fun and funny stuff, and the wonderful character voices and music. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do and that it renews your appreciation for these fantastic stories.
Age Range: All ages and non-readers with help. Seriously, if you don't like this program and these stories for yourself (let alone for the kids), the Buildings and Grounds Committee has a place for you.

Permissions: Sunday Software is making this program available to the Supporting Members of Rotation.org free of charge. The program may be installed on as many computers at your church as needed or shared with your church's members for their home use. The file may not be publicly posted or otherwise distributed beyond your congregation's use.
Elijah and Jonah is full of mini-games that all have content, and can all be quickly accessed outside of the stories using a handy game menu.
For example, "Smoochie the Whale's Spittin' Game" teaches your students about things they can do to be a "prophet" in their own lives (use it to start a conversation).
As "villains" go, they don't get more cartoonish and dastardly than Ahab and Jezebel who become foil's in God's lesson for a worn-out Elijah about what he needs to do next: go anoint the next generation of prophets!
Each story's final page has several follow-up activities and questions. Here's the one from the final page of Elijah and the Still Small Voice:
