Life of Moses would be the software you use with younger children, or if you were specifically focusing on the story of the Red Sea Crossing which Life of Moses does particularly well.

"Undersea Backdrop" (4 Ft. High by 30 Ft. Long) both of these two items are printed on light vinyl from partycheap.com. They also have "props" to add on top. Links to all are below (the picture shown is if you used all the props as well, which would not be needed). The complete scene shown contains two (2) Undersea Backdrops, one (1) Ocean Floor Border, one (1) Sea Creature Props, one (1) Coral Reel Prop, and one (1) Marine Life Prop.

GAMES (Bible Skills & Games)

"Parting the Balloon Sea Game"- another church shared with me (apologize for not giving credit where due, as I've forgotten who told me) - they filled the lower half of a hallway they had in the church with blue balloons and the kids had to go through the hallway, grabbing balloons and rubbing them on their heads (creating static electricity) and then sticking as many balloons as possible to the walls, thus "parting" the sea.
Red Sea - "Water Fabric" by Group Publishing, 5' x 10' fabric with marbled blues/greens.
Manna - a friend found in a pet store - White Rubber Squares (dog chew toys).
Quail - use Toy Rubber Chickens (found in party stores or gag stores) OR "Flying Chickens (slingshot chickens)" by Office Playground. See Neil's lesson plan at this site where I noted in the post below how we used the Slingshot Chickens in the "Flying Quail Game".

This book would be a useful way to set the stage for the story. It covers slavery through the arrival at the Land of Promise in 34 pages with very little text, but amazing illustrations.

Preschoolers - Sand Box Play/Storytelling Idea
In VBS one year we took an under-the-bed plastic storage container and cut a piece of heavy blue vinyl (tablecloth) to fit the bottom. We then covered this with sand. We had crocodiles (Playmobil), toy Hippos, palm trees, camels, and assorted bathtub people to use as our Israelites and Egyptians. Parting the Red Sea worked wonderfully, with no water involved. The students could part the sea again and again! (They actually part the sand to reveal the sea-blue vinyl and then filled it in again with sand.)

"The Ten Commandments" (1956), by Paramount, starring Charlton Heston as Moses.

DVD #18 – Prince for A Day
Description: Macky sets out to rescue the real Daniel, this time disguised as a Roman noble. Isaac retells the story of Paul and Elymas to underscore the danger of trying to be something you’re not, while Macky contrasts the Romans’ over-abundance and lack of gratitude with his own people’s tribulations when he tells Portia the story of Moses and the Miracle Water.

Description: Sees Toadie accusing Portia of being a rebel sympathizer. The stories of Paul’s disappearance and Moses and the Manna from Heaven remind us how important it is to be brave, and that God protects and provides.
