This shows that when the Prophet told Naaman to follow specific directions, God would only work on Naaman's behalf if Naaman followed directions exactly and believe enough to do so.

Yes, this was such a test!  It was not a humorous story of washing in a muddy river, but of following God no matter how strange it seems.  It stands alone so well and conveys a very deep principle - one that leads to life eternal!
